This is Red. I am really hoping its a hen. So far I have ended up with three roosters and Red is one of my favorites and I want to keep her, but can't if its a Roo.

YEAH!!! I was so hoping. She got me worried when her comb started growing some and getting darker.

We know she is part aracuana, but not sure what hen she is out of. Possibly a Rhode island red. She is 7 weeks old today.

That comb is awfully red for one that young......I hope it's a pullet for you, but I have my doubts (I'm not expert, either!!)

Okay, I just looked a bit closer, and I'm pretty sure you've got a cute little cockerel there. Sorry!

Do you see 3 rows of "peas" in the comb? If so...roo.

No waddles are that visible though. Mine are seven weeks and they have nice red waddles. Mine are true Rhode Island Reds though, so your cross might be different. My vote is pullet.

This is one of the other chicks from the same hatching as Red. I am sure it is a roo.

I'm not sure, but the comb looks pretty red - I'd guess cockerel. You can use these photos for some comparison.

Here's my 7-8 week old production red pullet - tiny comb, no wattles

and my 7-8 week old EE pullet (3 row pea comb)

no wattles yet (one laying down is same chick in above photo)

both chickens just started laying last week - definitely females
