when I posted my chick pics, someone mentioned they thought my Plymoth Rock, Ruby, was a boy b/c of the spot on the head. Now at a week old, (s)he has the thickest legs and already a more pronounced comb. BUT (s)he is my ONLY Plymoth Rock...so I am comparing her/him to EE's, Cochins and some Bantams.

What do you think? Either way this is one AWESOME chick! Super friendly, funny, adventourous. Heck (s)he will seek OUT the dog to check her out!

The wings don't have much white on them so I am thinking girl. The spot method works some lines of Barred rock and some lines you can forget it. A friend of mine hatched a couple dozen barred rocks a couple weeks ago, we sexed them by the size/shape of the spot on their head and seperated boys from girls. Visited her yesterday and out of the 15 we thought may be girls(darkest chicks, the spot looked like described by people who swear that it works) 4 actually were the rest will all cockadoodledoo some day.

someone mentioned the spot method, so it got me worried! lol!

Her wings are weird...one wing is completely black, the other wind has a bunch of white tips!

BR male chick characteristics: blotchy headspot, not much black wash on the legs, big comb... post more pics in a couple of weeks. The down looks pretty dark, but it could be a male... I wouldn't place any bets for another couple weeks though.
