Is my salmon faverolle chicks a Pullet

Wow where do we get true americana's then do you know of any hatcheries we get americana's from
Sorry I have no idea....I wanted Easter Eggers so I didn't mind! I think you'd have to buy directly from a breeder to get real ones of any quality...and really do your homework on them first. I think there must be a thread on the Breed Focus section here for Ameraucanas you can ask folks there for advice.

If you're interested in seeing or following my Ideal chicks, here is the thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/new-babies-on-the-farm.1251352/#post-20075311

So ‘Americana’ is not actually a breed, just a name for an ‘Easter egger’, which is a mix of breeds.

‘Ameraucana’ on the other hand is an actual breed, and a couple of hatcheries have them. I purchased some from Cackle hatchery. Meyer hatchery has them listed on their site also.

Feed stores and some hatcheries make it confusing by using terms such as ‘Americana’ to market mixed breed Easter Eggers, which are some pretty birds of all colors that lay a variety of egg colors, but don’t breed true to color or type.

Ideal actually does call them Ameraucanas, which is so misleading. I knew from reading their description that they were not real Ameraucanas...they even call them Easter Eggers themselves too!

I find this hilarious especially because of how they explain that many people incorrectly call them Araucanas.

Cackle Hatchery has real Ameraucanas... I ordered Easter Eggers from them this year though. They are pretty birds. I think the whole standard solid color thing is boring. I like the black markings and the different colors. Anyway, my EE's from Cackle are beautiful birds, so if I wanted Ameraucanas I would probably order from them. Just have a covered run because they can fly and roost in trees.

Hey just chiming in here...that's my post about the oddly coloured Salmon Faverolles "pullet" that @1cock2hens posted above. I'm just as confused as you are, and my chick is also from Ideal!!! Mine is 9.5 weeks old now and I just have no idea! :barnie Vera looks like a pullet in every way to me except for the black...just like your sweet little Taffy! I think Ideal may have done some wonky breeding! I think they're super cute though, and I really hope they turn out to be pullets!!

That's a pullet.

Here here is a picture of Taffy a couple pictures I still hope she is a pullet I'm very worried that she is not and that she doesn't have muffs or beard yet I think if she was a rooster she would I would be able to sell her or give her a way easier if she had a beard
