Is my salmon faverolle chicks a Pullet

I think all hatchery salmon favs are going to look close to the pics that Hensndoes posted, (other than Ideal Hatchery)... you can see some more pics at my coop article link in my profile too...

While the hatchery favs are not exhibition quality, they’re not bad favs at all in my opinion, just some ‘sooty’ beards...

I think if you ordered 3x as many sexed pullets as you intended to keep you could keep the ones with the cleanest beards and have some really nice birds to choose from...

Otherwise seek out an exhibition breeder in your area, to get those really showy cotton ball favs

I'm glad you told me that about cackle hatchery I was about to order some salmon faverolle from them this winter now I probably won't maybe I'll get them from my pet chicken do you think my pet chicken would have some good salmon faverolles
You are going to get occasional off colored Fav pullets from any of the hatcheries. The number of off colored birds, and the extent of the black in pullets will vary though. Meyer (and MPC) and Cackle tend to have the best Favs as far as hatcheries go.

I raised some Meyer chicks next to my breeder chicks a few years ago. The Meyer birds were decent at maturity. There were a couple with black beards, and a couple others that were on the darker side. All had full beards, good toes and good wingset. I know someone who had some Cackle stock and they were similar.

It is part of the standard for showing but it does not always happen in the breed some are just clean faced. That bird's hatch mate and daughter both have full muffs and beards. It is a random mutation, in every other way she is a breed standard faverolle.:)
I'm under the impression that the beard and muffs are part of the standard. I could be wrong as my focus is on marans and I only got these when my silkie order never got filled (I prefer Broodies do the work).

Btw, when I said “your favs look like my favs from cackle...” , I was speaking to Hensndoes....

I don’t have any that are as off colored as your Taffy... but I actually like her colors... I really have been thinking about getting some from Ideal next spring just because I like different:idunno

Ok okay I do love Taffy I think I will definitely keep her if she is a Pullet and find a good home for her if she's a Cockerel

I think it's a hermaphrodite. Too bizarre. Might crow while it lays:lau

Hardly a comb, doesn't fit breed standard, black breasted and red wattles for 9 wks.

Either way keep us updated. But I wouldn't breed that one forward. If it's a she and she likes to brood great tho!
