So I know silkies are hard to gender especially when they’re this young but I’m still going to post and see if anyone has any ideas on if she’s a hen or a roo, or what to look for to tell. She’s about 3.5 weeks old or so.

Combs on the roos are usually fuller as they get older and at some point you may still see some tail feathers that are more like a regular roo as they are maturing, just maybe not that many depending on the quality of the bloodlines. I don't have any now and am no expert, but we did have them when my kids were young in FFA and 4H for about 10 years. Hope that helps.

It looks like it might be a cockerel. But I’ve never had silkies, only read about them, so I’m guessing. Any updates on it?

I’m not 100% sure because I haven’t heard a crow yet but I’m pretty confident he’s a roo by the comb and wattle size. He’s about 10 weeks old now.
