Is one of my Orpingtons a Roo?

Looks like a roo. You can see the pointy feathers around the neck. Plus, the comb is much bigger than the other chickens that are nearby, and I am assuming, about the same age.

It's a pretty roo, if that makes you feel any better!

Looks like a roo to me too. I'm surprised you've not heard it crow as old as it is.

Nope, she has not crowed once. She is also my sweetest hens out of my 17 that i have. She loves me to pet her and she makes this kind of humming noise at night when i pet her. She is the only hen that has a comb that big out of the hens her age.

Oh, another thing that makes me think she may bee a Roo is that when i go out to the coop to feed them treats, she always lets the other hens eat the treats first. Someone told me that thats what Roo's will do but that may be False.

Well, I guess I can't say much, my BO roo didn't try to crow until he was over 5mos old.

You could definitely tell he was a roo, he was just lazy at attempting to crow I guess. Time will tell for you for sure.

Yes thankfully i will be able to keep him if he is a Roo. In a way, i hope he is a Roo. I already have a Roo for my Bantam breeds and i was needing one for my Standard's. We just got our bantam Roo 1 weeks ago. He is a Blue Dutch. He is so cute. He does his little crow every morning a 7:00 on the dot. I get such a kick out of him.

If he's not the alpha roo around your place, he may not be crowing for a reason. Upstart roos that crow (and do other roo things

) around the alpha roo are asking for a butt whoopin'.
What you read about roos feeding the hens first and sometimes even beak feeding the hens is true. Mine does it all the time.
