Is polysporin a good antibacterial cream for injuries?

One of my pullets was being picked on and ended up getting a nasty cut on her head this morning. I saw it happen and took her inside, cleaned the wound and tried to wrap it. After several attempts I realized wrapping it will not work because she keeps shaking and scratching it off. I dealt with a cockerel that got bit by a weasel and put a regular store brand antibacterial cream on it and it healed up nice, but where his injury was, I was able to wrap it. Her injury isn't nearly as bad, only the top layer of skin is gone with some feathers. I put polysporin on it to just cover it up until I can figure out what to do next. She is separated from the others so they don't pick at it. Will she be okay if I can't wrap it, provided I keep it clean and with antibacterial cream on it? I was really worried about head damage but she is acting completely normal.

How is she doing now? Ploysporin is fine to put on there wounds. I wouldnt keep it wrapped up. The wounds need air to be able to dry and scab. Have you ever tried Blu-Kote? I used this on one of my chicks who's head was pecked. Its and antiseptic and antifungal. It also turns where you put a it a very pretty shade of purple. She could have just been in a state of shock from her head being knocked around, or it could be a type of brain damage.

Se is doing good. I put her in a separate dog cage in the coop with her own food and water, but she won't be lonely in there. The wound has scanned over now and it doesn't look like there's any signs of infection. She is also acting how she usually acts, very peppy! I will keep you updated. :)
Where do you get Blu-Kote? I think I am going to buy some for any future incidents that may happen.

I like the Blu-Kote becuase it dries and the chicks dont have that wet looking glob on their head. You can get it at the feed stores. It's usually in the section with the horse medicine, as is it intended for use on them but works great for all kinds of animals.
