Meet one of our three 12 week old Black Austrolorp 'pullets' from our local feed store. Up until this week, she's been known as "Ramona" and is the largest and most vocal of the 3, although I don't believe I've heard a crow from her.... that being said, we do have 3 confirmed 'crowers' in our flock and I have thought once or twice that I've heard a new song coming from one of them....

What do you think?

Is this dark pink comb & wattle development normal for Black Austrolorp pullets at this age??

Here's a picture of Ramona's slightly smaller and more demure sister 'June' (smaller and more yellow comb):

Could be. Minorcas lay white eggs, so would have white earlobes and the body type is right. It does look like a pullet right now to me, but not an Australorp. Those are big round birds with red earlobes.

Wow! Okay. Glad to hear she's looking pullet-like, but i'm a little surprised to hear she's not what they told me. Only a little though. Thanks everyone! I'm off to do my research on Minorcas!
