Is Safeguard for dogs ok for chickens??

I have talked with employees at my local feed store and the more I learn here, the more I think they are useless! I asked about worming meds and they only recommended wazine before I found it only works on roundworms so I went back today and again they said get wazine. I told them I needed ivermectin or safeguard which they said wasn't good for chickens. Anyways they had an injectable ivermectin but I can't do that (one of my chickens I can't get within 4ft of) and they found safeguard but it's for dogs not goats like I've been reading here and it goes directly on the feed. Is this the same stuff being talked about here or should I take it back and find somewhere that has the right stuff? I don't want to use it if it's going to harm my girls! Thanks for any advice

Safegard is fenbendazole. It works fine at the correct dosage; sorry, I don't know what it is, as I use Ivermectin here. Use the injectable, either orally, or on the skin. I go out after they are roosting and plan on one ml. per 80 lbs. body weight. Doesn't take much! Neither product is approved for use on chickens in the USA, but they are both safe and effective. The Ivermectin also kills mites and lice, a big plus IMO. You can have your veterinarian run fecal samples also. Mary

Dosing done at night with flash light works for wilder birds. It is easier to do all of them that way.
