Is she a Lavender Orpington?

Now that you say that hdowden, I notice the white-ish color

Her earlobes are red on the outside and white in the middle. I read somewhere that purebred Orps are meant to have red earlobes so I take it to mean that she must be a mix? I don't really know too much about ressessive genes but since her 2 chicks are Lavs it got me wondering who their daddy could be as almost all of the roosters here are RIR/copper or black mixes. Then I realised that the neighbours main rooster, which I always thought was white from a distance, is actually Lavender Orpington! I also have a feeling he could be my hens father as he is a bit of an old boy. Does this mean Salt (my lav hen) would have to have two parents with the Lavender colouring or do they just have to have the gene for it but don't nessecarily (sp) have to be Lavender in colour? I figured she definitely has a Lavender daddy just not sure if her mother was or not? I can feel myself getting confused here lol

Maybe the experts could help me figure it out

I agree that the cooking oil is much cheaper than vaseline which is why I decided to try that option first. I was advised to just dip their legs in the oil every night for a week, they didn't tell me I had to use a brush to scrub it in

Might explain why it didn't work! (Sigh) A whole week spent crawling around in the coop in the dark wasted...
Now I'm tossing up if I want to try the cooking oil again - this time with a scrubbing brush

or if I should just bite the bullet and try the vaseline which would be more expensive but would also mean just doing it maybe once a week instead of every day

Aroz, I had another member on here who breeds English Lavender Orpingtons and she agrees that she is a mix, but a very pretty one with the light barring.

Thank you, I must admit she is quite a pretty girl and I am glad I have 2 Lav chicks out of her and the rooster from next door. I'm hoping to breed them again in the future to continue on the colour. It shouldn't be too difficult to do as Salt loves going broody on me. 3 times so far this month! Unfortunately for her I already have my chicks for the season but I've got my eye on her for the near future :)
