Is She Broody?

That might be okay. wait and see if she get's back in. Broody hen's get up to eat, drink,go to the bathroom...etc..

Will they roam around the yard too for a bit? And I would think they'd just use the bathroom in thee boxes but I am now noticing...after a year I have not spotted any poop.. Well! I am slow LOL!!!

Sorry it took it so long to answer! I went out for a bit! Yes they will probably roam around a bit. The other thing that will happen if they are broody is that when they go to the bathroom it will be big broody poo!

She never got back on it, but my Dark Brahma got on the egg's for a while, she kind'a screech every once and a while, I went out there to check on the nestbox, to see her having hay in her mouth, I was well howdy farmer buckbeak XD. She also tucked the egg under her too, when she got off I got some old egg's from the fridge marked them and put them in the nest box, she saw me messing with the egg's and she started making loads of noise. Really hope one of the girls will sit on the egg's they have me in a big mess of confusion! And would I need to add a ramp on the nest boxes? the jump in them, It has been there since we moved here, and would I need to make more nest boxes for 13 girls? they seem to all favor the bottom one which is the biggest out of the 3.

Also, how long are eggs good for, and how long would an egg be good for if I put it in the fridge and took it out and put it under a hen, if that makes since at all lol.

You know, if you don't want to keep using chicken eggs to test there broodiness on I have found that golf balls also work the same! So if you have any lying around there's an idea for you! My nesting boxes don't have ramps and it has always worked out fine. I typically wont pull an egg back out of the fridge after it has been in there a few hours but I have also never tested to see if they would hatch!

I have no golf balls and no way into town lol! and not sure where my nephew hid the easter eggs at. But the eggs I had from the fridge are pretty old, plus I have eggs coming out the ears too lol! So I don't mind putting them to use. if no one is sitting on them in the morning then I'll throw them out.

Sounds like a good idea! Just have patience with your hens, sometimes it can take a while for them to become fully broody!
