So, I thought this girl was going to be my first to lay. Shes been like this for about 2 weeks and is still not showing any signs. My easter egger has started before her (she actually laid at 16 weeks). This one is 1 of my 5 production blues. None of them are laying. They are 19 weeks. Does she look close? Or should I stop getting excited because it may still be a while?

It’s better to feel the bones in her behind than look at her face. 😳 sounds embarrassing but it’s true! There are great charts online to follow to see if the bones around her vent have widened.

I think she would kill me if I tried that 😂. I'll be better off just waiting

You feel from the outside! 🤣
I know 😂😂😂. She doesnt like me messing around with her. Even as baby she would flip out when I would check for pasty butt. Maybe I'll try later today once its cooled down. I'm sure the heat would just exasperate her revenge.

So I looked up how to check and from what I've read, that will only tell me IF they're laying, not if they're close to laying. I know shes not laying yet, the only egg I get is 1 green one and I've seen the easter egger lay them.

That comb definitely looks pretty red and developed, though part of that could be heat related as well. But *should* be close to laying if just going by the comb/wattles.
Yeah, we are pretty hot. I took these pictures when we were our coolest but it was still high 80s.
