Is She Or Isn't She, Only A Real Easter Egger Owner Would Know

let me tell you it is hard to keep a limit on chickens, as im sure all of us on here know

i told myself no more than 10 chickens! then i said "well maybe like 12 then" then i got 12 "how about 16" then i got 16, and then my hen hatched out 5 chicks, so now i have 21

but i do plan on selling some of those when i can tell whose a boy/girl. but 20 really is my final limit (we'll see how long that lasts) have fun with your chickens, they are tons of fun and i think all the breeds are worth trying at least once

She's a very pretty EE pullet. Sounds like you've got a good start, that's a nice assortment of breeds. I love having a mix of all different types and different egg colors. It's weird maybe, but I think it is so much fun to take eggs out of the carton when they're all rainbow colored.

I ordered some of those from mypetchicken about a year ago. One hen looks EXACTLY like your pullet. If yours is a pullet, you will be getting green/blue eggs from them. Im getting colored eggs from mine. Great Broodies too. VERY protective. I was so impressed with mine, Im getting five more and some Cuckoo Marans.

Did you mean you were putting all 12 of your chicks in the coop together? The 4' x 6' coop? Do you have harsh winters where the hens will stay in the coop a lot? That coop size seems awfully small for 12 hens. I wouldn't put more than 6 in it myself, and we almost have no winter at all here so my chickens only go inside to sleep.

Unfortunately, the manufacturers of these coops advertise them as suitable for that many hens.
They should be okay for a while, in there, but you might want to add on or get something larger in the future. The general consensus is 4sq ft per bird, so 6x8 would be ideal for 12 hens.
Just keep an eye on them, keep it clean, give them access to a nice run area, and some people hang treats in the coop for them to peck at, so they don't get bored and peck each other.
