Is she really a California White?

She doesn't lay

My California White is an amazing egg machine -- started laying in mid-December (hatched at the end of June), and has missed only 1 day since.

Chipotle is a mischief-maker; the most amusing bird in my flock. She flies in and out of the pen at will and can almost always be found perching up high.

Shes pretty. We had a hard winter, and they weren't old enough to lay before winter hit. Thats why I think she's not laying

It seems that the hatcheries have changed what a California white is recently, or at least some of them have. CWs used to be white with black spots, but not apparently they also have areas of red leakage.

Also, yours has green legs where they used to have yellow legs.

She is very pretty, though, but it would be nice if the hatcheries could be consistent with their products.
I believe these ones with red leakage are a different type of leghorn hybrid. I haven’t figured out what they’re called yet, though.

She is 9 months old
LOL...reminds me of the Norwegian Jaerhon I had. They are supposed to be "Norwegian Leghorns" that produce a ton of eggs and that bird laid less than any other I have ever had. Plus was the only white egg layer so when she favored me with an egg 2-3 times a year I knew it.

Just bought 3 California White chicks 2 days ago at the feed store (really wanted that breed). They are supposed to be a cross between Leghorns and California Greys. The chicks I have are yellow with pink legs.
