Is she trying to go broody?

Ok, so I'll continue to check her at night. If she does start sitting overnight then I put her in a dog crate off of the ground with food and water, correct? I believe that's what I've read here before.

That is correct. I've had to deal with 5 different broodies this year.

I would also contribute the behavior to being young - they just started laying at 25 weeks so she may just be confused as what exactly to do. I had a hen that I was convinced was going broody because she was acting like that (at about 30 weeks, right after beginning to lay) but continued to roost at night. I would wait it out / only remove her from the rest if she becomes a problem and is hogging the nesting box and causing eggs to break.

If she roosts and sleeps with the flock, she’s not worried about maintaining eggs.
How is her health otherwise? Not being lethargic or weird, just focused on setting?

Shes seems to be acting fine otherwise. At the end of the day shes out foraging with the others. She wont sit if theres no eggs in there. An EE went in to lay and she followed just watching her and when the EE laid then left she went in and sat on it. I'm about to go check again to see if she laid or is still sitting.

And I'm not sure if shes laying or not. I'm only getting 6 out of 7 eggs and shes the only one sitting on everyone's eggs. Is it ok if shes not laying or is that something I should worry about?

She definitely cant hog the boxes. We built plenty just in case because my EE is a hogger.

Sometimes they stop laying if broody goes on for long.

It hasnt been a long time, I would say at most a week. I also contributed the heat to not having everyone lay also.

Lol, well you’re lucky if they actually use them! We have 16 laying hens and they all try and use the same box all day long. We are building more for the 30 chicks we have growing up now. Little a-holes... but I love ‘em.

We have 6 and they use 3. We currently have 11 weekers who will hopefully use the other 3

My broody went broody again today. So...... when they fight over 4, they’ll be ok with three right??
