Thürigian Bearded Bantam (Critically Endangered Breed)

Oh my, what a beautiful little bird! I'm just responding to Page 1 of this rhread, I'll go back and read the rest. I want to know what color your little fellow is but I'll probably find out as I read. They are adorable, really! I've not had bantams because of hawks, but if I did ... ! :love

I must’ve missed something. You’re in Italy? I could’ve swore you said something about living in Texas, but I must be wrong. Makes sense though as you mentioned getting eggs in Germany and that they're hard to find outside of the EU.
Yup! I'm Italian American, and since I live in Italy my aviculture is limited to Europe. Germany is suuuuper crazy about their birds so that's were the best breeders are of almost everything

Thanks! He's gold spangled with white instead of black, idk if it's ressesive White or dominant though. I used to think I'd couldn't get bantams because of Hawks and other predators but I give them supervised free range time! They love getting treats when I call them back into their coop!

Sounds like even if you found some Millies, you’d still have some work to do. They do have the columbian and mottled genes, though they’re usually duckwing or partridge based depending on where you get them.
Yeah, most them have rose combs over here too. I think in about two generations I'd be able to line breed them back to Baby Bee or split them off with other Thüringer roosters to get Duckwing and other varieties.
I’m actually in the starting stages of breeding new colors into d’uccles. Got plans for some duckwing based patterns. I’d definitely try breeding spangled into d’uccles if I had a bird like yours!
Is it hard to get birds or eggs across borders in Europe? I’m American, so I’m unfamiliar with how it is across the pond.
That's super cool! 1 person can legally take up to 12 eggs to the states with them, and I usually go to Texas every summer to visit family so if be able to bring 12 eggs with me to stabilize a good breeding flock of a couple different color varieties of the Thüringer bantam!

I'm even looking into importing some salmon & wheaten wyandotte bantams! However that's after I'm successful with importing Thüringers and have a good starting flock in the states

Neat! Seems like a unique situation. I hope everything works out for you!

It’s dominant white. Recessive white covers most if not all colors resulting in a solid white bird. Dominant white only changes black to white, which allows for lots of unique patterns!
