Hello @Ann in Wyoming, I am also a Wyomingite! The head and neck are larger than the others and there are odd little puffs of fluff on her face. Hard to get a good picture.
Not acting odd in any way. Does not appear to be sick. Eating fine, especially when I put a tray of greens (grasses, sprouts etc) in the enclosure, or chopped broccoli - they all run for it. Drinking both water and the electrolytes/probiotic mix. They have unlimited access to chick feed and grit as well. Definitely not lethargic. She was playing in the pool with several of the others earlier (about a quarter to a half inch of water and the like to wade in it, chase after BSF larvae, seeds, etc floating in the water - quite entertaining).Hello @Ann in Wyoming, I am also a Wyomingite!
How is she acting? Any signs of lethargy or drainage/bubbles from eyes, ears, nostrils or mouth? Does she move her head around okay?
What is this chick’s breed and where did you get her? I ask bc it’s possible she is perfectly fine just mixed with some breed that has fluffy cheeks and more fluff overall around the head/neck.
I’m happy to hear she is doing well and does not show any symptoms of sickness. To me it sounds like she probably has some muffs and a beard coming in! Since her mom was an Easter egger that checks. One more thing you can do if you’re still worried at all is feel under hear feathers all around her neck and chin and make sure you don’t feel swelling or lumps of any kind. Not acting odd in any way. I bought the fertilized eggs from a local. The rooster was a Jersey Giant. Mom was an Easter Egger - but no idea what kind of cross she was. Both the gray and white and the black one with the large necks and heads hatched from blue eggs if that’s a hint of any kind.
