Is something wrong?

Hello All,

One of my pullets has what appears to be a bump around her ear. She was sneezing a bit so I had her on antibiotics. She is no longer sneezing and other wise acting fine. The bump no longer looks bluish but is normal color now. Is something wrong with her?

Does her earlobe appear a bit swollen? It looks like she has a green bruise on her earlobe. If it is swollen that could be due to a peck or injury, or a part of her respiratory infection.

Yes it does look swollen to me. It is not bruised looking anymore though, I will take an updated picture when I get home today

I separated her from the others and gave her Duramycin 5mL per gallon of water for 10 days

5mL of this mixed with a gallon of water was what was recommended to me. I got it at TSC

Yes it does look swollen to me. It is not bruised looking anymore though, I will take an updated picture when I get home today

Sometimes a swollen earlobe is due to a respiratory disease or an war infection. The antibiotic oxytetracycline can help treat an infection if it is due to certain bacteria. The dosage I would use is 1/2 ml given orally twice a day for 5-7 days. If she is eating and drinking and normally active, she probably has recovered.
