Is the beagle I adopted full blooded or a mix?

I volunteer at a veterinary clinic two days a week. When I got in this morning there was a dog brought in by the humane society that had just been spayed. She began to cry as she was waking up, because they often have a difficult time coming out of it. One of the workers asked me to sit with her and comfort her. The dog stank terribly, and was dirty, but she kept trying to climb up in my lap so I let her. She licked my face and I was hooked. I filled out an adoption form right after work and we were approved a few hours later.

They said her name was Birdie, but she doesn't even recognise it when I say it, and it doesn't fit her at all. So what I need is to know is:

1.) Is she a mix or a full begal? She has freckles like a brittany spaniel and my mom thinks she is part spaniel, but I'm not so sure.

2.) When she stands, she stands like a show dog. Her back legs are stretched outward and she keeps her head perfectly level and facing forward. She walks right next to your leg, just like they train show dogs to. Any chance someone tried to train her to be one? Why would they dump her if they did?

3.) What name do you think fits her? Anything put Precious, Molly, Lady, Lucky, Lucy, or Jenny.

She looks kinda rough right now, and I had a hard time getting pics because she's still kinda doped up from the spay. I'll post better ones later.

maybe they did but I don't know why they would dump her if they did, maybe they thought she wasn't cut out to be one. I think she looks purebred although you are right, she does look a bit bigger, her head looks different/smaller, and she does have freckles so maybe some spaniel thrown in the mix somewhere? And too me she looks like a Sophie.

she looks pretty full blooded to me. the freckles are a beagle thing, our miss kitty has them, beagles are wonderful dogs, you will enjoy her! just watch out for her nose! they smell anything and if you don't have a leash on her, she will be gone!
I don't think she is mixed with anything, spaniel would leave her with more fringing possibly and/or longer ears. our beagles all have a different look to them but are full blooded, from registered parents.

Actually I think she may be purebred cuz I googled it/looked it up and I think beagles can be freckled

I think she looks like an Alexis, Alexa, something along those lines and OMG she is a doll. There is not a lot more adorable than a beagle!!! My neighbor growing up had 2 males named Lead and Trail and I adored those two so much!!!

I would name her Alexandra and call her Lexie for short. She is a purebred Beagle for sure. I want a Beagle SO bad. They're SO cute.

I was just thinking, is it possible she was being trained not to show, but to hunt, and just wasn't "getting it" good enough? The horror stories I have heard about dogs that didn't quite work out for hunting make being dumped seem almost nice.

She's really cute! Beware, though. A good tech friend of mine has 3 beagles. She actually has to bungee cord her refrigerator closed because one of them knows how to open it.
Another beagle she just recently adopted (came in as a stray and she fell in love) can flip his crate, while he is in it! ( I told her to set up a video tape and send it in to AFV) He moved the crate over to her bed and proceeded to destroy her favorite sheets. He's so cute and so naughty!

Them beagles are determined little buggers!
