Is the beagle I adopted full blooded or a mix?

I was just wondering what was up with her buggy eyes.

I have definitely seen quite a few purebred beagles with buggy eyes. Obviously not a desired trait...but one that does show up in poorly bred dogs.

Please note that none of what I have said about conformation/type has anything to do with a dog's temperament/loveability!!​

Oh, I know. It kinds seems like the ugliest, scraggliest, smelliest dogs turn out to be the sweetest.

As for teaching her to play, try different toys. Rotate out the ones you use to paly with ehr so she doesn't get bored with one. Also, some dogs won't play iwth some toys. My Bealge puppy will not play with the Kong Classic we bought her, but she loves her toy slipper, teddy bear, gingerbread sttuffed animal, and her toyl football.

I would get her one of those stuffed ducks that quack. If she used to be a hunting dog it might interest her.

I had been trying to feed her Old Yeller. Its a food Krogers carries that's made by Disney. Its cheap, but all of our other dogs love it just as much as Alpo. I bought her a cheap can of wet dog food from the Dollar Store, and she ate it right up. She also liked the mixed vegetables we gave her for lunch. We give veggies to our dascund, because she only gets one cup of food a day, and this new dog wanted some too.

We put her in a play pen when we have to leave, because right now she's on worm medicine and we don't want any accidents on the carpet, and she actually tried to bury what was left over to save for later.

You can tell I don't have ducks, I didn't even think of that

Actually, they make a whole line of those now. There are wolves, squirrels, moose, groundhogs, porcupines, beavers, raccoons, etc. I may buy her one that's non-fowl shaped later.​

I don't think a dog would associate a stuffed toy with the actual animal. It's the movement, and in particular the scent, that triggers the prey drive in a hound.

I would be willing to say that she is a full blooded beagle. She looks like what they call a pocket beagle. What a doll !!!!! I have been in rescue 17 years now and I always tell people that they don't pick the pet, the pet picks them. lol
