Is the day long enough for egg laying still?

My understanding is that hens need 11+ hours of light to lay -- my 5 month olds are not laying yet. Is it too late in the season (without artificial lighting) for them to lay?

We're in California.

Don't know about the young ones (pullets) who have not yet begun to lay.

I have 2 BO who have been laying since spring and I get an egg almost every day from them.

We have 11 hrs of daylight here now also.

Also I think it can depend on what kind of chickens you have.

I also have 4 BSL's that are 14 weeks old so I am wondering when they might lay also.

my march born barred rock chicks started laying last month here in upstate NY and continue at almost an egg a day with no extra light.

hope you get eggs soon!
