Is The Economy Still Affecting You (and Your Family)?

DH's salary is figured partly on "bonuses," which have taken a 30% drop this year. But we worked hard on getting the house paid off last year, both drive older cars (no car payment), and we avoid credit cards, so we're doing okay. Christmas will be more about love and being with family this year, and less about $$gift giving$$, and that's okay (whether my son believes it or not...lol). We're big Dave Ramsey fans; Who needs to keep up with the Jones anyway? The Jones probably all have stress ulcers.

You have to tell yourself you CAN do this! You are extremely lucky to be living with your mom, even if it seems like the world has come crashing down. This moment in your young life is the most important thing for you to live through, because later in life when something happens you can remind yourself you made it through this, you can make it through anything! And you have a large family! There is strength in numbers... you are not alone.

Take advantage of that love and have patience... sounds like you are very lucky to me. Go take some time to yourself to destress from thinking about it, and take it one day at a time from here on out and I think you will just do fabulously!

Yes.
My SO is a logger. Loggers take wood to mills. Mills sell the wood. Wood goes to house builders. House builders arent building houses. Which means
House builders arent buying wood. Wood mills arent selling wood. Wood mills arent taking as much wood. Wood stacking up at logging company..

Thank you so much for your kind words.I have been feeling so down and out. I try not to roll around in self pity but times are hard. I know that I am extremely lucky to have my mom but even she is in financial crisis. I wish I could just bail her out too! I think things have got to look up soon, I just want to get out of the hole. My entire family and almost everyone I know are feeling it so I can't feel too bad for myself. Thanks again.

It never really affected us. I realize that that is a rare case, but it's true. Things have gotten better for us because my husband stopped logging (the logging market here is horrible) and started working at a well drilling and septic company. They get a lot of business because we live in a huge tourist area, lots of people from Milwaukee and Chicago come up here and build their second and/or retirement homes. We try to be as cheap/frugal as possible, so more money comes in than goes out.

My suspicion is that as the DOW goes up the commodities market can as well. Oil is trading higher per barrel now than it was a bit ago because it's being invested in more heavily.

they said on fox news that oil was selling for almost 90.00 a barrel again. our gas went from 2.38 up to 2.69 today

Price of gas was up to $2.69 from $2.57. It jumped overnight.

I thought it was due to the Puerto Rico oil refinery that burned......

Hubby's hours are cut back by $50-60 out of each paycheck. And Public Aid denied us food stamps because we made too much. It is the third time we tried to apply for it, still too much. They go by gross pay instead of take home pay.......jeez, take home pay is alot less than gross pay and after all the bills have been paid, it does not leave very much and we have to go to food pantries to get more food. I can only buy meat and necessities.
