Well, it says here: "Wild waterfowl are the main vector and so it’s prudent to keep your chickens away from ponds and other areas that migratory birds congregate."
This is about H5N2.
Well, I have a little stream in my backyard. I thought that maybe in the summer I'd take the chicks to the stream to play around in. It's not a fast moving stream, but it isn't slow enough that you'd think it wasn't moving.
I've only once seen ducks there, and even then it was only 3 ducks before they flew away. I've been living here for 3 years. However, I can find ducks in a lake nearby. A quarter a mile away. And it's more like a pond actually.
My question is, should I still take my chickens to the stream if there is a risk of getting H5N2 from the ducks there?
Also, there are definitely ticks there, has anyone had a problem with ticks before?
