Looking for a breed(S) of chicken that doesn't molt or, at least, will continue to lay while molting ... my hens are getting up in age, and I am planning ahead for when I need to replace them.

Sadly no. Molting is a way of them to clean themselves and get new feathers. There are breeds, however that molt less and for a shorter time.

They have to molt to renew their ragged feathers. Molting also gives them a break from the demands of laying. If you provide fermented feed, that will maximize their nutrition, and make their molt go faster, and they will return to laying sooner.

x2! You want the girls to have a rest. And fermenting your girls feed is terrific in so many ways, from better nutrition absorption to spending less $$!
