Is there a current record for use of zip ties in a run?

I really should buy shares in Zip Ties. Everything i build has atleast a few dozen holding it together... Quail cages, chicken runs, dog pen, veggie patch... Never actually counted them though.. Maybe i should lol

I really like the hot pink ones.

I also use them as temporay leg bands. Sad thing is, now the kids tell people that the best way to tell the boy quail from the girl quail is boy quail have green leg bands. (little bitty zip ties) lol

I like the neon colored ones, but DH got to the coop before me and ran the netting over it and used his black ones. I'll find something to use the pretty ones on.....something....

Where does everyone get theirs? I got the first big pack of them from Lowes, but I wonder if theres not a cheaper place to get a big bag of them.

I'm trying to think what we did before zip ties! I just lined the bottom 18inches of field fence (20 X 30 feet) with plastic hardware cloth when I expanded the silkies turnout paddock. I sure used a bunch of them for sure!

I think Mac is right...it would have been bailing wire before...and what a pain in the a$$. Didn't know that about using the black ones for outdoor...I'll do that next time!

Make it a habit to periodically check them, though. They can deteriorate with time.

It's a good habit to check your fence periodically anyway, whatever you use to keep it together. Wood can begin to rot, screws or staples can start coming loose, you can spot places where predators have started to try to dig or pry their way in, etc.

I try to make it a regular "first day of the month" routine to inspect my coops/runs for maintenance, so I won't forget to do it regularly.
