Does anyone know of a dewormer that you can give to laying hens that leaves their eggs still safe to eat?
I have been looking at every farm store around and only have found products that say you must not eat the eggs of a treated chicken for two weeks after treatment...then goes on to say it must be given once a month....so just when would you ever be able to eat the eggs?????
This is confusing and frustrating....can anyone enlighten me here?

Oh thank you...I will have to check this out! I wonder why the IVOMEC drug company doesn't just advertise that it can be used for poultry too. Cause it sounds like a lot of people are using it for that...I may be able to get some from a friend that has cattle, as I hear it is kinda expensive or you have to buy a whole bunch or something?
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction

No problem! It does not seem too expensive. I order it from that Jeffers supply place mentioned. You gotta make sure it is the injectable because they also sell a pour on and I almost ordered the wrong one the first time. lol

Just a note: Neither Ivermectin or Eprinomectin are approved for use in poultry. Ivermectin does have a 35 day withdrawl in ruminants. Eprinomectin is zero withdrawl, again, in ruminants.

However, it is important to note that Ivermectin is in constant use in humans (children as well) in tropical regions for the prevention of River Blindness (a nasty `worm' indeed). So, amount of residue in eggs is going to be in the difficult to quantify without some advanced equipment (pretty vanishingly minimal) and far less than any `clinical' dose. (Wear gloves as the stuff will pass through skin).

Here are the labels off of Jeffers:

See SpeckledHen's post in thread on dosing with Eprinomectin: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/239296/speckledhen-ivomec-eprinex-clarification-please
