Is there a limit to the amount of berries you should feed chickens, or will they limit themselves?

My two 16 weeek hens have access to my black currants when out free ranging, but they only eat a few of these. However, when I am picking my blueberries, they wait on the other side of the fence for me to keep throwing them berries while I am picking. Should I limit the amount I give them? (obviously this is only once a day, and during picking season). Are black currants even ok for them to be eating? I never read about them being fed to chickens.

Mine free-range so I have no real control over what they eat and how much. In mulberry season they eat so many of the berries that drop to the ground that they poop purple poop. If they are eating blackcurrants its because they know they are yummy and/or good for them. Same with blueberries.

Thanks. Mine only free range when I can be out with them (due to a lurking neighbor cat). I just wanted to be sure the black currants, especially, were safe for them.
