IS THERE A PHOENIX THREAD?

Thabks. He's my baby boy, but he's getting old. He was at least 3 when I took him and his girls home, and that was 3, 4, 5 years ago now? He's such a good male too, apart from trying to spar with my Sumatra male through the wire 😅

A beautiful bird. The picture makes his comb look odd-like it was frost-bitten, or is it just the picture. Even in TN I have frost-bite problems some years.

Every bird, even female that survives the winter here ends up with frostbite. He actually has a lot comb left for a single combed male. If you look at his feet, hes mostimg all his front toenails besodes maybe one

Here's the mother that throws mainly females again. Thinking 2 girls and a boy, but not seeing wattles yet

My plan next year is to start adding silkie genes and work towards a sillies pheonix.

Also A second project with NN genes, accidentally ended up with a pullet NN/Pheonix this year already so she will be bred to the blonde male to start reinforcing the Pheonix feathering

Silkie phoenixes! I want to see that! I wonder what their tails would be like. NN Phoenixes would all so be interesting!

Someone on here does have them and they're very nice looking. I think the only problem is that the males will probably never be able to grow long tails because they'll be brittle

I grew up and lived in WI for most of my life so I'm familiar with what the extreme cold does to chickens. Where are you at?

I have raised just one red pullet this year of any quality. When I went outside she was dead on the ground-chewed up-victim to a predator; a rather crap of a day. I still have some red chicks. Hopefully, one will turn out as good. If not, there's always next year. My whites are doing well, so I guess I need to be happy of that.

Montana. Last year we had a week of negative 20 days and negative 30 nights. Didn't lose any solely to the cold, which amazed me, but we did have a sweet pullet we had to put down after she lost a foot to frostbite

I started the silkie/phoenix project last year and have two youngsters that are silkied this year. I'm wondering just how well silkied feathers will hold up long or if they will get long. These two are third generation; the products of two birds that are 3/4th Phoenix and 1/4th silkie.
