I've searched this forum and found numerous posting extolling the virtues of pine shavings, sand, straw, and just PDZ. But is there a single article somewhere that puts them all together into a single thoughtful summary?
This is relevant to me because I just converted a 16x16 shed into a coop by putting a big sheet of remnant linoleum on the old rough floor, adding roosts, et cetera. I plan to house about 12 chickens in there, with no access to an outside run (at least for the foreseeable future). Now I need to figure out what to use for bedding. I'm strongly leaning toward sprinkling PDX on the floor and then putting several inches of pine shavings on top of that. But I am open to other ideas, and I would like to make a decision that is as informed as possible. Thanks!
