Is there a way i can tell if my bobwhite quail are male or female? Here is a picture. They arent adults yet. Also i dont know there age. What does it mean when they puff there feathers out and the head feather pop up into a mohawk?

They don't look old enough to sex yet to me in that pic, unless you want to vent sex them. Once they start to get their mature plumage, the males will have white on their faces.

Mine hatched in June around the 5th and I can now tell the sex.
