I have chickens for several reasons, and one is that I like to look at them.
I got a bunch of ex-battery hens a few months ago. They are probably 16 months old now. I have some pretty RIR's, barred rock, jungle fowl, etc. White leghorns are not the prettiest chickens ever, IMO, but these are scraggly. They were in terribly overcrowded conditions and were all picked when I got them. They are not pets, but I would really like them to look healthy.
To make a long story short, is there anything you can do to encourage a molt? We are currently getting over mycoplasma. Will the illness make them more likely to molt?
