Is there a way to train a grown dog not to chase chickens?

what is it with standard poodle I have a male and he will and has killed the chickens. I have a lab that does not even look there way. I thought I was going to have trouble out of the lab. Go figure.

I don't let my chickens out to free range till after dinner. I know we will all be home at that point. The dogs HAVE to stay in the house. I am home all day so they get to go in and out as they please the whole time. After dinner is the chickens time. The dogs are fine in the house for 3 to 4 hours. Once the chickens go into roost the dogs get to go back outside. It works fine for us. If there is an emergency pee pee look, I put them on a leash and they go out to do their buiness and then strait back in.

I agree with the shock collar. Used one ourselves. I would like to add that I think it's important to establish with dogs that they are the lowest on the pecking order. You do this by making sure they wait for their food when you set it down. They only eat when allowed. With our adopted 1 1/2 yr old GSD we had to take it one step further and he doesn't come inside until allowed. He has to sit first and wait. That did wonders for him.
