Is there an alternative to medicated starter, that is a water additive

Just curious...my MIL said she got me some--she always used to add it to her chick's water, but I have never heard of it...I got medicated food to give my babies, I was just gonna take the bottle and shut up about it...but DH went and told her that I got medicated starter and now she made a crack this a.m. about how I don't have faith in her...geesh..

Corid is a liquid....it's the same thing (amprolium) that's in medicated starter, just in liquid form.

I usually use medicated starter to prevent cocci and Corid to treat it if they got it. Corid is much stronger than medicated starter and (in my opinion) unneccassary unless they were showing symptoms. That was nice of her to get it for you!

okay, so I guess she was kinda right...so some people DO use it for prevention straight away, rather than treatment after symptoms are shown? It was very nice of her--
