Is there any hope or did I just ruin the batch..

Welllllllllll.......we have at least one so far!!! I heard little chirps when I checked her this morning and just now one peeked its head out to say Hello before she tucked it back underneath her (Already a good mama!)....Hoping to have at least 1-2 more hatch successfully (the others didn't appear that promising when I "candled" them the other day) ....eeek!!! I'm over joyed as this is our first ever hatch and will have a second generation in our flock....As soon as she is done hatching we will move her and the chick(s) to a different safer spot for her to raise them...how long should we wait to transfer and to know it's safe that the others won't hatch...I'm thinking a week?? I'm so afraid we are going to have broken rotten eggs in the coop.

Yay!!! Congratulations on your baby chick... I don’t have a clue on your other questions, but hopefully someone with broody hatching experience will give you an answer soon

A couple more days, then transfer them. Once they start hatching, a hen usually won't sit on the nest but 2 - 3 more days. Make sure there is chick starter, and a waterer that the chicks can't drown in. You can put marbles in the bottom of a waterer, if needed, so it's not too deep for them. At that point, mama should start teaching them everything they need to know.
