Is there any type of bedding that is better absorbancy for ducks?

I use a flax bedding. I didn't start with that but I'm beyond happy with it. The pine shavings just don't work with moisture/water. I put the flax bedding in the house in June. I've added very little twice now. I was scooping daily, but not even that is needed. I can get away with 4-5 days but usually do at least every 3 days. This stuff is like the cat clumping litter for ducks--not even kidding. I highly recommend it.

That's what I use. My rake isn't shaped like that, but I turn the rake with a twist and scoop up the poops.
I replace any pine shavings if needed and once a week clean out the whole duck house. Sometimes it gets wet from rain when it's raining just right (playhouse made into duck house) - so I clean that out and replace with dry shavings.
I use pdz as well. It keeps the duck house clean enough.
I will most likely add straw this winter just because it can be more of an insulator. But, not sure I will - haven't fully decided yet.

The feed store by me carries it. It is also super soft.

Where do you buy that? I don't remember seeing it at Tractor Supply...didn't really look at Southern States. I hope I can find it to try! It sounds like just what I need!

I never saw it at tractor supply. You would have to google it to see if anyone carries it in your area. Once I enclose the chicken coop, I'm adding it there too. It's very common to use with horses. They gave samples of different bedding open ehere I go and I grabbed a handful and could not believe how soft it was. It's dust free and absorbs like you wouldn't believe. And it's fire retardant for those that use heat lamps in coops. It's also very light weight so it won't weigh down a floor like sand would.

I found this online when I googled flax seed bedding. Hope it helps. If you can find it, grab it.

I wish they made a "mini fork" type scoop that I could use to clean daily. As it is I just use my hands (ugh). Like a kitty litter scoop but with tines like a stall pitch fork. Maybe a cat litter scoop is not a bad idea...but tines would make it easier to "pick" their "stalls" you know?

I use a mini-rake (maybe for kids) I found at home depot, then I pick it up with the rake or my gloved hands

I found a supplier in Warrenton, VA (less than an hour from me) and there will also be vendors at the Homesteader's Convention in Oct. 2018.
