I did see a video on you tube where the person held the hen down while the rooster mated with her I personally would not suggest that just let it happen naturally.

I was just curious because my roosters have not mated in a while but I will just let them do it when they are ready.

our roosters don't really mate the hens much nowadays, but then the hens arn't laying much either, maybe it's the time of year?

My silkie rooster is 8 months old and my EE rooster is only 7 months old. I don't think that is old for a chicken. They used to be so called babe magnets.

I had a Welsummer rooster that I never saw breed his hens, I guess he was shy, yet the eggs were fertile so he must have done the deed.
