We visited today. Bought a share of the CSA. I bet I must have seen your girls! Their birds all look happy and healthy. We were very impressed with their whole set up.
They have one goat, a pretty Toggenburg doe named Sara(h). She is very sweet and has my husband almost convinced that he wants goats too. Almost!!
The wife is a former student of my mothers. We knew this before we got there. We had a very nice visit with the whole family as well as all the animals. We're looking forward to going back. It's less than 5 miles from our house.

Awesome. We bought a tenth of a pig and plan to do the CSA next year. We are putting too much money into the chicken set up right now to pay for that as well. But we will definitely buy more of their meat over the summer.

I'm glad to hear my girls are looking good. They must be getting big now. I haven't seen them in over a month.

I wish this snow would melt already so we can build the run and bring them home!!

We split the CSA with my parents making it more managable. Next year I'd like to do our own.
I'm about ready for the snow to be gone too. We have a coop to finish as well!

Community Supported Agriculture. Here's an explanation from Localharvest.com that explains it much better than I can!
Community Supported Agriculture

Many farms offer produce subscriptions, where buyers receive a weekly or monthly basket of produce, flowers, fruits, eggs, milk, meats, or any sort of different farm products.

A CSA, (for Community Supported Agriculture) is a way for the food buying public to create a relationship with a farm and to receive a weekly basket of produce. By making a financial commitment to a farm, people become "members" (or "shareholders," or "subscribers") of the CSA. Most CSA farmers prefer that members pay for the season up-front, but some farmers will accept weekly or monthly payments. Some CSAs also require that members work a small number of hours on the farm during the growing season.

A CSA season typically runs from late spring through early fall. The number of CSAs in the United States was estimated at 50 in 1990, and has since grown to over 2200.
