Is There Anything Better ?

Thank you everybody for the welcome. It’s good to be aboard!
I do have a question for something that’s come up of late. I lost a couple of chickens in my pen. Both of them had their head and necks eaten, right to, and actually into the crop. It also looks like the animal tried to pull the chicken through a hole. Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

Oh gosh I'm so sorry! :hugs You might start a thread in our Predators forum for help to ID the Predator and what to do about it... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/predators-and-pests.13/

Sounds like a raccoon. Use hardware cloth on your pen.

During the day? I agree with @janiedoe. 1/2 inch hardware cloth is needed with an apron.
