Is There Anything Chickens Love More Than Hostas??

I made the mistake of letting my chickens watch me weed the flower bed, and I threw them a few worms....Then they suddenly noticed the hostas! I looked out the front door to see three chickens around each hosta in my flower bed, just munching away like it was some kind of salad bar I set out for them!

I couldn't help but laugh! I've removed the hostas from my flower bed in front of the house......Now I have azalea bushes, with some colieus between each bush...(I sure hope they don't notice the colieus)......

I think I might just plant some hostas along the edges of the woods in the backyard just for them......

Cool! I didn't know they enjoyed hosta. We have a ton of it scattered here and there...not much in the areas of gardens so I never noticed. Or they just have too many other things to get into around here.

We grew pumpkin last year for the first time in a while and the chickens pecked a hole in every one to get to the seeds. Now how did they know there were big, juicy seeds in there?

I agree, chickens are very creative!

A hosta makes a great nest on a hot day because they are so cool. Two of ours do that too, but then started eating them too. We have 3 varieties of hostas and they only went for one type. The others, no idea why not. Maybe because they aren't as droopy.
