Is there anything I can do about the swelling? *pics*

The pain killer in Neosporin won't hurt him. That is a myth on here. Feel free to use it.

I would stop the penicillin, though. My concern is that he is allergic to it; I think this is pretty likely. In case it is an allergy, give him some Benadryl. It's very nearly a harmless drug, just get the children's liquid and dose him by weight, approximating it by the child dosing directions. Might have to give it for a day or two, a few times a day. I agree with you, it's not fowl pox.

It would be good to get some Benadryl in him tonight if you can.

On the painkiller myth. The fact is that an ointment with a "caine" drug in it was used -- cetacaine, benzocaine, novacaine, something like that, ending in -caine. And it killed the chicken. But the painkiller in Neosporin is a completely different drug, and safe for chickens.

I highly doubt it's fowlpox, considering that I vaccinated him against it when he was a chick since there was fowlpox in my older flock at that time. Also, the fowlpox I have experienced has never been this bad or come on this quickly. Other than his face, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with him, except I noticed he had mites and dusted him. I did use neosporin on his injuries after his fight, but it was the kind with painkiller, and I have stopped giving it to him, but I don't know if the painkiller did something.

I'ts definitly Pox, Either he didn't take when vaccinated, or its the quail pox virus in which the fowl pox vaccine would offer no immunity, This is exactly how pox looks when the virus enters lacerated skin

I am really beginning to think it's fowlpox. Even though it looks a lot worse than what I experienced before, it seems to be acting the same. His condition has not worsened, and I was able to get both his eyes open and he readily ate and drank. I also think I will discontinue the antibiotic unless things start to go south. Thanks for all the advice!

looks like fowl pox and a possible allergic reaction, maybe to the antibiotic or neo. If fowl pox is caused by a virus, the antibiotic may be doing more harm than good. I know I am allergic to penecillins. I hope he gets better

I just looked up fowl pox it is caused by a virus- antibiotics are not effective against viruses, they may be killing some good bacteria that may help him, so I think you should discontinue them asap. Makes sense that open wounds would allow the virus to enter his body.
