Is there even a name for this?

Can you have Black Tailed Buff in other breeds besides Japanese? She's a Serama..

Look more closely and you will see an overly mottled Millie Fluer pattern, Congrats, find you a millie patterned Cockrell or cock bird and keep it going, just about everything about the pattern is recessive and can be duplicated fairly easily with a mottled, spangled, or better yet a Millie mate.

you're right... i forgot that a mille fleur is a black tail buff with mottling...

but, i've also seen some mottled silver wheaton hens that look just like that girl up there too... i kind of don't see the mille fleur in this pullet because there is black missing on the body...

looks also to be a partridge, ginger, mottled...

LOL... darn seramas are so complicated...

I believe I have hatching eggs in the incubator from a Mille Fleur hen I had shipped in that is due for lockdown on Monday!!
could that be another reason that under all of her feathers there is black downy feathers? because she is a Mille Fleur?

Here are pictures of momma and daddy of a couple of my hatching eggs.. Im stealing your photos ZooMummzy!! I could be wrong though. The only thing I know is who daddy is which is written on the egg.

Lol your telling me!! Makes it harder that they dont breed true!!

And she has Black underfeathers (downy feathers under her flight feathers... whatever you want to call them.)

i would have said Buff mottled but the black in teh tail primaries, and the shape of the white feather tips, the Millie Pattern gets the run away white when the blck bar is missing or very faint, same as a spangle. I think it is Millie Fluer with a run away white problem but seramas are such a genetic mess there is no telling what you will hatch unless you have selectively breed for a color over several generations.

You are onto something there with the Millie Hen the Black tailed Buff may be carrying Mottling as well or may be had a millie parrent to offer the Millie pattern. I would keep any Millies together to try to perpetuate a Millie Line of serama.

lol...

well there you go... look at the parents...

maybe she has a double dose of mottling..???? nah, that's impossible... or maybe...

i wonder how i can make that with my OEGB's... hmmmm...

OE Millie thought you had some? or are you talking about Oe x Serama? There has been alot of OE added to serama here in the US and with carefull breeding it is easy to get any OE color into another bird.

look that male over real close there is a feather or two in the wing primary with a white tip, he is acrrying mottling and is likely Millie with only copy of the MO gene. the can show some when only having one copy of Mo just not much and typically only noticable on teh primary wing or tail feathers.

Those 2 birds arent her parents, their the parents of about 4 hatching eggs I have in the incubator..
Im trying to get pictures from the lady I got her from but I remember mom was a GRAY and dad was a BLACK BREASTED RED!!
