Is there signs that a hen is ready to lay?

For the people asking about what their pullets should look like before they start laying. Both of these girls started laying today! Same day, 27 weeks old, right in the best box! Imagine that!

If she is 15 weeks old, I doubt that she will be laying for a while yet. I would suggest watching her for a couple of days closely, to see if she get's any worse.

thats the worst case scenario i was thinking of.. haha i didnt wanna think so because a few days earlier she was singing the egg laying song

Great!  The average for hens to start laying is 6 months, although Leghorns and Stars will usually start laying earlier.  You must be so proud of your chooks for laying those eggs today!

I am very proud. This whole last week I was telling them they would be dinner if they didn't lay.

To start a new thread there is an icon thing at the bottom left that says start a new thread. If you use that then you will start a new thread in this section. If your question pertains to something else then you can go to that category and start a new thread there. Hope this is clearer than mud

Its pretty simple. All you have to do is go the top of the Forum, and to the left, there is a long icon that says 'Start A New Thread.'
So you choose a forum you think is relevant to your question and click on the icon which is in the forum.

Too bad What breed is she?

Shes a buff orpington. I think she was just having a bad day because she couldnt find any bugs to eat coz she was digging with her beak more than usual. I went and found one juicy caterpillar and a slug for her. Afterwards she was the same ole self

Why did my hen seem very interested in the coop and nest boxes and now shows no interest? I have 3 hens that have the red
combs but do not seem interested in laying any eggs. I have a J giant now how old does she have to be bfore she lays any eggs?
