Is there such a thing as a barred rock easter egger?

I raise many Barred Rocks as well as EE's and that one in the photos is DEFINITELY a BR cockerel.

After you've raised EE's and other 'true breeds' together for a while you will easily be able to pick out
who is who in the little brooder. The different breeds carry themselves in distinct ways you will begin
to notice.

Can you give more details please? I have chicks from my BR hen + Ameraucana roo (= black sex link EEs) the boys look just like that. Some do not have distinct baring more spotted, they all have green on their legs like daddy. I'll try to get some new pics of 1 or 2 of them.

I really do appreciate the input! I'm still confused as to how they screwed up our order but we live in the city and can't have roo's so these guys aren't going to be able to stick around very long. This website and the forums has been a wealth of info for a first timer.

I have three EE/BR mixes that hatched from my incubator this week. The first two are black with white spots on their heads. I've read so many conflicting opinions about cockerels vs pullets. Some say white head is pullet, some say that means cockerel. Others say an uneven white or yellow patch on head is boy and very defined is pullet.

The third chick has a white spot, but it is very small. The overall color is lighter than the first two.

I'm sure hoping at least one is a pullet!

Hang in there, I was told mine are black male sex links (white spot on back of their heads), but some of them are not barring the way a black sex link is supposed to, some are and most are looking more like pullets all the time,,, here is an early pic: I need some new pics as they are almost completely feathered out now,,,

This is from a mixed hatch, the orange chicks are Buff Orpington over RIR. The Yellow chick is silkie bantam over barred rock. 2 solid blacks are from Ameraucana over Ameraucana. The chocolate chipmunk 1 solid black and 1 with a white spot are from My sisters hen that lays jumbo eggs mixed roo and mixed hen (lost the solid black one from this hen). The rest are Ameraucana over barred rock, there is 1 (not in this pic) from this match that is not black,,, I no longer believe that these are black sex links!

I agree with Happy Chooks and mtnviewfarms. This chick looks different from your other barred Rocks because it's a male. Hatcheries get the sex right about 90% of the time. So, for every 10ish pullets sold, one cockerel sneaks through their process. You should have a couple of months before he is crowing and annoying the neighbors -- hopefully you can find someone who wants him.
