Is there such a thing as a barred rock easter egger?

Yep I was reading some of the threads. But my pullets have all had a rather large irregular spot on their heads. Well the three I've had so far. 1 from Hoover Hatchery that was supposed to be a pullet (I'll never know she was taken by a weasel). And the two I have now that are from Meyer Hatchery, both also bought as pullets. One actually has a cross on her head the other a large diffuse spot. They are 2 1/2 weeks. They seem to be pullets so far, both have black wash on the legs (one down to the ankles and one all the way down the toes, their wings are quite darktheir barring isn't well defined....

I guess it will be a while before I know if Meyer got it wrong or not.

This is the chick I was unsure about, it's head spot is different from the others although I'm still sure it's a barred rock either way. I'm just not 100% it's a roo, it has twice as many feathers as the other 5 (they're two weeks old now, the first photo is from a few days back but the rest are from this morning). Thanks for the photo's and info on your EE's, at first I wondered if by chance we hadn't somehow ended up with an EE that was a barred rock cross because the woman at the hatchery was quick to point out that one of the black one's may have been a black EE but it has since started growing striped feathers sooooooo that would be an impressive coincidence. But, I couldn't find any photo's or info on barred rock/ee crosses other than the solid black sex-links. So much controversial and contradictory info on EE's out there.

That looks like a BR pullet to me

Yes there is such thing :) I crossed my barred rock rooster and one of my EE hens and hatched this baby

At 3 days old :) the chick has fluffy cheeks and a peacomb but has all the markings of a BR chick. I don't think I'll be able to sex this one young because it is crossed but I'm excited to see how this little guy turns out. I am not sure on your chick but so far it looks to be just BR.

It was most definitely a barred rock roo! And after a lot of tinkering in our own backyard with EEs and Araucanas over the last two years we've gotten pretty good at spotting the roos in a hatch. Funny how a lot of it just kind of boils down to experience more so than definable guidelines when it comes to seeing chicks. Used drive me nuts when chicken folk would say well, that's a roo. But, how do you know? Eh, just looks like one. Lmfao, now I get it.
