Is there such a thing as a quiet rooster?

WOOT for a good crow - and There is nothing that will make ya laugh harder then a first crow WOOT --

A couple breeds get talked about as "quiet" birds I have a standing order if I ever Read Serama Boys don't crow I am going to send them a couple --
It is a Personality trait - Not a breed trait --

You're right about the first crow! Ours sounded like it was underwater snorkeling. Kind of scary, too.

Oh good, I'm glad you said that about the Bantams, I have a silkie roo and he has never crowed. I was getting worried.

My FIL HATED our rooster, because he crowed 24/7. He said "don't they make quiet animals??"

He ended up getting attacked by some stupid Pit Bulls anyway (the rooster, that is, not my FIL... LOL)

I have four Chabo (Japanese bantam) roosters, and they are so quiet that I thought I'd gotten hens by accident. They cluck a bit, usually softly, and one of the crowed once or twice and it was really soft.

Does anyone else have Japanese bantams/Chabos? If only one of the four roos wasn't crowing I'd think it was just a fluke, but all four of them are the quietest chickens I've ever had, male and female.

My white Cochin bantam croaks instead of crows. He's not loud, and it's more a "six am and all is well" kind of thing. Couple of croaks and he's done. The neighbors (in town) say they never hear it. I think they're listening for a cock-a-doodle-do and not a grrr-ahh.

Yep I have a lovely purebred white silkie silent rooster...He flaps, dances, mates, finds bugs for the hens and makes no sound. He's only 8 months old, but usually they crow by 6 months. Just a late bloomer?
