Hi we are new to chickens and this is the first batch we are raising. Can you tell if my easter egger is a pullet?

((What do you think of the Australorp?))

We are starting to suspect we have two roos... here is the other one:

Australorp

But she/he doesnt have the saddle feathers or the same development of the comb, just very upright when startled.

I think your Easter Egger is around 3 months old and definately a boo.

As for the Black Australorp, I am not real familiar with the breed. I would say get a better head shot and hopefully someone else will come along and have an idea.

So I started feeling pretty sure that the darker EE was a roo last week (they were hatched Feb 22 so I think that makes them between 7-8 weeks). I sad this one is a roo and will wait a bit longer before trying to find him a home.

And then looking at the Australorp with very similar shape and manner (just not as friendly) started suspecting that we may have two not one rooster (when we are allowed none).

The Australorp isnt friendly and wont stand still for pictures, cant hold and take pictures either because it takes two hands to keep her/him still!

My white-ish EE was a roo

and if the black australorp is a cockerel that may explain why it's not friendly. I had 2 BA cockerels and they were the first to go to freezer camp because they were so nasty.

don't have BA big enough to compare, mine are only 2 weeks old, we do have a EE roo that was supposed to be a hen, his name is Gracie,(poor thing) he is top roo we have two one is a Sussex the EE has never gone after any one was handled often as a chick and is a very nice rooster. The Sussex may go to freezer camp in the fall if I can't get him to stop attacking the grand kids. Finding the EE a home should be easy, Good luck

No expert by any means but the Austerlorp is a naughty pullet i think!

My Roo Roo is a week younger and much more developed in the comb arena
