Is this a barred rock cockerel or pullet?

She looks like a pullet to me. I have 3 br and they r all pullets and they all have very red combs and wattles. All 3 lay eggs so I'm def sure the are female

I think cockerel as the barring is finer and whiter when compared to your maran. Barred pullets no matter what breed tend to look darker and their barring isn't as beautiful until they get older, though their black barring is still thicker than a roosters. Sorry to muddy the waters further! It is frustrating not to know for sure.

I bought this barred Rock as a pullet at TSC around Easter. This is my first time with this breed. I am thinking it is looking like a cockerel or are all barred rocks supposed to have red combs and sickle feathers?

This bird is not a Barred Rock, but a Cuckoo Marans. And it is most definitely male.

Hatchery stock Marans most often do not have feathered legs. Since the bird was purchased at TSC, it's safe to assume it's hatchery sourced.

More importantly, Barred Rocks never have white skin. Therefore, it must be a Marans.
