Is this a boy or girl duck?

When I got her at TSC they said she was a Rouen... But they also said that she would'nt fly, and she has been flying for months now...I'm getting her wings clipped tomorrow since its just her and I she has no duck family to migrate with and I would be devastated if she left.

Looks just like the female Mallard that used to walk on the ledge outside our picture window and look in at us. She had two males escorting her. We think she came back the next year too because we had another female peeping tom. We never had ducks hang around before her or since.

Originally I had two females... one disappeared a while back and now I just have Claire, I was thinking of finding her a mate but I don't think I could handle little ducklings!

Female rouen or mallard. My 4 month old rouen drake already has his male coloring and a green bill and is obviously a boy compared to my hen. I will try and post some pics so you can see the difference.

Rouen's have mallard bloodlines but they tend to be larger and not flying. My mothers male flew away last spring.....lol. I raised 3 orphaned mallards and they were tiny compared to my rouens and flew the coop in august. Here is my hen and drake rouen, at about 4 months old you can definitely see the color difference. Also their quacks are different like pp said. I have 1 drake and he is soft and raspy, my 2 pekins and hen rouen are sooooo loud!
