Is this a bruise? Call duck egg day 25.

Here’s the little guy as of now. Before I go to bed I’m going to remove the membrane all inside the hole. I was waiting a bit because when I last moistened I saw some small veins. And moisten. Is there anything else I should be doing?
I think that looks great for now I would leave it until morning.
You may have to go for the full assist but I would probably give it a good 24 hours first.
if nothing happens in 24 hours then I would start taking the shell off and moistening the membrane so you can watch and see what is going on inside like the picture below shows.

You should be able to gently pick the shell off while leaving the membrane intact.

Thanks. I will go in and assist if it can’t make it out tommorow. Do you think I should go ahead and remove the bit of membrane around the bill and face or just leave it be till morning?

It's hard to tell from the picture you'll have to judge if there are veins in the way or not.
When the veins have receded they will look like little spider veins.
Thin little lines. When the veins are not full of blood then it is safe to remove the membrane in those areas. sometimes you can gently work a q-tip underneath that membrane and just kind of stretch it a tiny bit so that it's not touching the bill or eye.

There were no veins so I removed a little bit more. He quacked at me twice! :love

It’s day 26! He is still hanging out with his bill through the hole. He occasionally moves his bill to the right side. He looks pretty good. I won’t be back for a while today because I have to work. Do you think I should do anything more before I leave? I did moisten the membrane over the hole after I took this, and The veins are absorbed.

He also still appears to be actively chewing and yawning. He was quacking quite a bit when I first came out. He was rocking up a storm trying to get out. I did candle quickly and I can see quite a few veins at the bottom near the air cell. Also I now notice that his bottom has moved into the air cell whereas it hasn’t yesterday. Here’s a photo :D

Ok here's how the little guy looks as of right now. Do you think I should widen the hole around his face some more and take a bit more shell off? He is yawning less. he's chirping up a storm. I did get a candling picture.
