Is this a california white??

I've found that to be the opposite with mine.
Food dye (gel and regular kind used here) and ACV water mix. I go little heavier on the ACV for the brighter colors. Lots of bantam eggs.

California whites are supposed to be a cross of California gray rooster over white leghorn hen. The California gray itself is white leghorn crossed with barred rock. So there should not be any color to them but white with black spots.

But maybe they're using a different cross for California whites now. I don't know. But I do know that those pictures here are not the original California whites.

Here's some pictures:

That's the coloring we wanted to have.

What I expected from my 2. What the decided to be when they grew up is another story lol. They do have black spots though lol

Only one of mine has readily visible spots. The rest are barely visible at all to the eye.

Those are very beautiful hens, but they are definitely not California Whites. Below are pictures of my California White hen, Cali (Calla Lily), as a chick, pullet and hen. I have to say I LOVE this breed! Cali is friendly, very quiet, an egg laying powerhouse daily laying ginormous pure white eggs, curious, holds her own in the flock without being aggressive towards other flock members, handles confinement well but also does great when free ranging, non-flighty, does great with kids. I was concerned about getting one due to living in a neighborhood with homes very close together, but this breed is so quiet. I definitely recommend adding them to your flock the next time you are able to. PS - chicks were grafted to my broody head hen.
